7 Essentials For An Urban Adventure with Your Dog

I love taking Lucy around the city with me in the Summer. There’s usually so much to do, and when I have her along with me the fun can keep on rolling without running home to feed her dinner and go for a walk. In this post I’m sharing 7 essentials for an urban adventure with your dog based on what we can’t live without!

Feeding Raw Is Easier Than I Thought! Join the #RawRevolution

For an urban adventure with your dog, I have found there are a few essential items to bring along and some tips on finding places that you and your dog will enjoy. First off, we always start the day with a nutritious and filling breakfast. For me that’s greek yogurt with granola, chia seeds and fresh fruit. And for Lucy it’s Wellness® CORE® RawRev™. I feed her this protein packed kibble that’s combined with 100% raw meat pieces because it fuels her whole body and keeps her energy up to roam the urban jungle with me!

If we’re going to be out for several hours, I pack a small backpack with our essentials for the day: water bottle full of H2O, collapsible dog bowl, sunglasses, poop bags, snack bag of RawRev with freeze dried raw pieces to use as treats throughout the day, small towel to use as a picnic blanket or in case of an impromptu swim, and my phone to document everywhere we go!

It’s important to make sure you dog has plenty of water to drink throughout the day. A Summer time urban adventure can get pretty warm, so look for places to refill the water bottle when you can. We have a few public water fountains here in Pittsburgh that I always visit on our longer walks.

Even with my backpack full of essentials, there are a few more things I look for to make sure Lucy and I both have a good time out in the city. You’ll both be happier and healthier if you look for for the following things during your adventure.

Plenty of Shade

You might want to stop at a sidewalk cafe or lounge in a park during your adventure. Make sure to pick a spot with some shade for your dog. If you notice your pup panting a lot, it’s time to find shade and water for a little break. Find more tips on staying cool on the Wellness Facebook page.

Beware of Loud Noises

Dogs have amazing hearing, which allows them to hear you open a bag of treats from across the house! But that sense of hearing also means that loud noises are amplified for them. I avoid super loud places like concerts, and try to avoid streets with too much traffic (especially motorcycles).

Rest Stops

In general, make sure to give your dog plenty of rest stops throughout your urban adventure. Provide them with lots of water and healthy treats or kibble like Wellness CORE RawRev.
