One of my favorite things as a kid was the Shamrock Shake. I always looked forward to March when McDonalds would bring them out for a few weeks. I’ve always loved minty things, and the fact that the Shamrock Shake was limited edition made it even more desirable! Now that I’m an adult and I watch what I eat I’m not as excited about a traditional Shamrock Shake as I used to be. Have they gotten sweeter, or have my tastes changed? Either way, I knew I could whip up a healthy Shamrock Shake recipe to share with the dog!
Lucy’s favorite foods in the world are yogurt and bananas, and this healthy shake contains both! When you’re making something to share with the dog, make sure you don’t add any extra sugar or salt since those ingredients aren’t good for them. By sticking to those guidelines this shake is not only healthy for Lucy, but it’s good for me, too. Plus, the mint gave both of us a nice burst of fresh breath!

I used all healthy ingredients like plain almond milk, plain greek yogurt, fresh spinach, fresh mint and frozen bananas. If you don’t have any fresh mint handy, you could also use a few drops of natural peppermint essential oil.

Lucy is such a helper in the kitchen! She made sure I stayed focus and mixed these Shamrock Shakes up as fast as possible. To make it all a little more fun, I garnished her glass with a lucky organic shamrock treat from Bo’s Bones and I added some whipped cream to mine! We both got a fresh mint leaf on top since you can never have enough mint!
These mix up in a just a few minutes and are a great healthy alternative to the traditional Shamrock Shake!
