Pom Pom Gladiator Sandals are one of Summer’s hottest trends! Of course, I had to find a way for my dog to get in on the trend, too. So I made Lucy a matching Pom Pom Gold Glitter Dog Collar to match my sandals! To make it easy for dog moms everywhere to get in on this project, I did a video of the process so everyone can DIY Pom Pom gladiator sandals and matching dog collars. When we wore these out together I got so many compliments, it was so fun!

DIY Pom Pom Gladiator Sandals + Matching Dog Collar

I purchased my supplies for this project at Target and a local craft store. The sandals are actually from the girls’ department (they were on clearance at my store, but here they are online)! Somehow a women’s size 8 equals a girls’ size 6. I’m not sure of the math on that, but I’ll take clearance gold gladiator sandals any day! The dog collar is from Target’s Boots & Barkley collection which has a ton of cute stuff. The gold isn’t available online, but I’m loving this mint color! FYI: Lucy wears a size Large on the largest hole with these. The glitter is very nice and doesn’t rub off at all. We already have dog hair on everything at my house, I don’t really need glitter on everything, too!

I already made the gladiator sandals before filming, so in this video I show you how I make the dog collar. Honestly, anything goes with this DIY! You can attached pom poms, feathers, buttons, beads and even old earrings like I did. I tried to make the colors balance across all three items (the 2 shoes plus the collar) so that it would all coordinate. Pink and turquoise ended up being predominant colors while purple, green and yellow came is as accents.

Since the sandals are so bold, I think you have to go in one of two directions with the rest of your outfit. The first time I wore them I paired them with a purple and orange leopard print romper and piled on the gold jewelry so I had craziness going on from head to toe! That was perfect for a going away party for a fashion blogger friend. But, for day to day I paired them with a really understated army green romper (I have a lot of rompers, I just love them!) and minimal jewelry.
