DIY Valentine’s Day Dog Treat Recipe + Goodie Bag

My dog loves me every day, so on Valentine’s Day, I want to celebrate with special treats! Homemade dog treats are always special because they’re made with love. Homemade doesn’t have to mean complicated! The recipe I share here is so easy to make but the best part is the DIY Dog Treat Goodie Bag that you can use to share the treats with your doggy friends.

For this Valentine’s Day inspired DIY I have a video to show you exactly how to make everything. Make a fun crafter-noon out of it so you have treat bags to share with your neighbors or dog park friends. A small gesture of kindness like this goes a long way to spread dog joy!

Valentine’s Day Dog Treats + DIY Goodie Bag Tutorial Video

In this video, you’ll learn how to make this 2 part DIY project for your dog’s Valentine’s Day celebration. In the first part of the video, I will show you how to fold a simple piece of paper, with some strategically placed washi tape, into a DIY dog treat bag.

Then, I walk you through making a heart healthy treat recipe with a paw print motif. These are the perfect dog treats to place in your goodie bags and hand out to friends! The heart-healthy ingredients include oats and coconut oil. My dogs love them!

These treat bags are the perfect thing to drop off at doggy daycare, share with your vet or take with you to the dog park on Valentine’s Day. There’s really nothing better than homemade treats, you know exactly what’s in them and they have the most important special ingredient – LOVE!

DIY VALENTINE DOG TREAT RECIPE + GOODIE BAG

Valentine TREAT BAG TEMPLATE + Heart Healthy Dog Treat RECIPE

This is such a fun Valentine’s Day craft! I love this DIY template because you can print it on plain printer paper or a fun novelty print like confetti hearts, gold hearts or hot pink! Be as creative as you’d like. If you don’t have a printer, you can also use a plain piece of paper and handwrite your own dog-inspired Valentine’s Day message.

Heart Healthy Dog Treat Recipe

I call these “You Leave Paw Prints on My Heart Treats” thanks to the cute pawprint design on each treat. They also contain heart-healthy ingredients like oats and coconut oil!

Ingredients
1/2 cup Peanut Butter
1/ 4 cup Honey
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 cup Chicken Broth
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine wet ingredients in a big bowl. One at a time, add each cup of the dry ingredients, mixing to combine between each. Add in the oats last.

On a floured surface, roll out your dough to about 1/ 4 inch thick. Cut out into small circles, I just use a jar as my cookie cutter!

Use your finger and thumb to make a paw print on each treat. Watch the video for a tutorial!

Bake these for about 15 minutes. Let cool before giving to your pup. Store in an airtight container in your fridge, or give out to your doggy friends immediately!

This recipe is considered a special treat for your dog, not a meal replacement. Treats should make up about 10% or less of your dog’s daily food.

I think Kendall and I can manage this one – if anything it’s an excuse for some new washi tape 😉
