One of the best things about living in Pittsburgh is that we get to experience all four seasons. In the Winter we all complain and try to get away to warmer climates, but I know that secretly everyone loves a coating of snow. Plus, it makes us appreciate the nice days even more! Right now we’re in the middle of a classic Pittsburgh Spring, where we get all four seasons over the course of 1 day! That’s when vests and booties come in handy. Lucy and I were exploring dog friendly downtown Pittsburgh in the perfect Spring outfit, ready for anything mother nature threw at me.
One of the best things about visiting downtown Pittsburgh is that there’s so much you can do with your dog! I feel like it’s all a best kept secret though because everyone is always so surprised how many places I can take Lucy! Our downtown is also great to visit on the weekend because it’s pretty quiet. You can walk around without too many crowds or noises that might startle your pup. It took some convincing (Lucy was a little apprehensive as you can see below), but once she got to see all the fun things to explore I could barely get her to leave!
Being a tourist (even in your own town) with your dog means that you need to bring along the essentials like treats and poop bags. I never leave home without them! This vest has great pockets to hold those things plus my phone for the inevitable Instagram moments.
Dog Friendly Downtown Pittsburgh
These are a few of our favorite dog friendly places to visit downtown. I also recommend just walking around. There’s a ton of public art, river front paths and bridges to give you and your dog something to see and do!
Mellon Square – Great place for people watching and lots of things to sniff
Point State Park – Big grassy park, perfect for picnicking and strolling around The Point. Try to resist going in the fountain, I think that’s frowned upon!
Omni William Penn – Lucy and I enjoyed brunch in the lobby! Check out the pet policy for staying overnight.
Hotel Monaco – Another great dog friendly decor with a million Instagrammable moments before you even leave the lobby. Try to check out the roof top for a new perspective of Downtown.
Market Square – Lots of restaurants with outdoor seating and dog friendly patios!
Outfit Details: Sweater, super old. Vest, Alexander Wang. Jeans, super old J. Crew. Boots, TopShop. Lucy’s collar and leash both from Petagogy.
