So I have finally moved into my new house! Woo! I can’t believe that I’ve finally done it! I probably wouldn’t have been able to have managed it without getting a good Estate Agent though, and I mean look at how nice my new place is!
Finding my dream house was difficult too, especially when you have to budget. I was lucky enough to have my friend talk me through the process of buying a house as she’d recently just moved. She told me that it took her a long time to get a mortgage because she didn’t have a Social Security Number when she first moved. Apparently she was able to learn more about which credit cards she could apply for by reading articles on websites like novacredit.com and others. After reading that, she was able to get a mortgage loan because she built her credit score up. This meant she was able to get a much better deal on her mortgage. Thankfully, I didn’t run into that problem, but it was handy to have her knowledge of mortgages!
It feels so great to be done with my apartment and have all my stuff over at the new place that is all mine… even if everything is still in boxes and piles. Moving into my new house was an experience, there is a lot that needs to be sorted out like home insurance (need to keep my little home safe!), you’ve got to find the best one for you. If you’re in Texas you’ll research to find the best rates in texas so you’re not caught out, it does work in all states and is not limited to one area for you to find the best rate. Now you know and you won’t get swindled!
Since I bought the house last month, and the conveyancing has all been sorted (Lending Expert has advice for you if you require a conveyancing solicitor when moving home yourself), I have been trying to do all the little projects that I can do myself because if there is one thing I have found out, it takes a loooooonnnnnggggg time to get workmen to do things for you.
So, I’m starting with the most important thing: my house’s first impression! I wanted my house to have a stylish edge before you even walk in, so I started with the front door. Who doesn’t love a great accent door!
My front porch was living in a beige, beige, beige, beige world. I needed to rescue it! After hours and hours of pinteresting and consulting with the woman at the paint store, I decided on this Sherwin Williams Sea Serpent. I LOVE it! Here’s an in-progress shot so you can see the transformation as it happens. Riveting, I know!
Lucy and Lola already love hanging out by the new door and barking at everyone who walks by. Plus, check out the perfectly coordinated welcome rug I found. It’s from Garnet Hill. Looks excellent there!
Next up was getting rid of that charming mailbox and those clunky numbers! A quick trip to Home Depot and convincing my dad to help me, and voila! New entry! My dad let me pose for photos so it looks like I did it all, while in fact all I did was hand him drill bits.
What do you think of the new and improved look? It’s a subtle different, but I’m really into details and I think this makes it so much more stylish. Eventually I would kind of like to paint all the outside window trim white, but that’s a project for another day! How about switching out the light above the door though…. Tell me what you think!
