It’s officially October, and I’m revealing my third idea for a stylish and fun couples costume you can do with your dog! Catch up with previous ideas like Surfer Girl + Shark and Dorothy + The Lion, then come back here because I saved the best for last… Rabbit + Magician!
I put a little twist on things and made Lucy the magician while I play the rabbit. This was the most fun costume to “trick or treat” in during our photoshoot, and it’s also the most comfortable for both of us. All in all, it’s the clear winner for me!
Halloween Couples Costume With Your Dog: Magician and Rabbit
Once again, I put my costume together with things I had around my house. I’m wearing a bodysuit I recently picked up at Target, over black opaque tights, with faux furry sandals and my denim jacket for extra coverage (plus pockets for treats!). The pom pom tail is from Lucy’s snowball collar and the bunny ears are from our Easter photos. It pays to never throw anything away!
Lucy’s magician costume is a doggy tuxedo bandana and cuffs. How adorable are the cuffs on her ankles? I can’t even handle it! That’s why there are so many photos in this post, I couldn’t possibly narrow it down!

Something I always look for when I’m coming up with couples costume ideas for me and my dog is to make sure that we’re both comfortable. I make sure that my costume works with flat shoes, sneakers or boots because in high heels I have a hard time if Lucy pulls on the leash! Falling over is not a cute look on Halloween!
For the dog costume, I also make sure it’s something they can walk in. We usually wear our costumes to a puppy party at the dog park or another local dog party costume parade, so it’s really important that we can all walk and be comfortable! Of course, it goes without saying, don’t make your dog wear anything that they don’t like or that scares them in any way.
