The Internet is full of so many DIYs, but putting together the materials and finding the motivation to actually make things on your own can be so hard! That’s why I’m so excited to partner with a local business called Pop Craft that hosts maker workshops here in Pittsburgh. This July, we’re going to help you learn how to make a stylish doggy bow tie so your pup can hit all those outdoor Summer events in style! Lucy got the chance to model two of the sample bowties so you can see just how fabulous they are!
How the Workshop Works
Pop Craft hosts several crafting workshops at different locations around Pittsburgh each month. This is the first Wear Wag Repeat x Pop Craft collaborative workshop designed just for stylish dogs and pet parents who love to get a little crafty. The owner of Pop Craft, Monica Yope, and I came up with this design that has a leather base and fun fabric accent with a gold leather loop to hold it all together. We’re going to have a few different leather colors and a bunch of different printed fabrics available so you can customize the bow tie to fit your dog’s personality.
This workshop takes place on Tuesday, July 18th 6:00-8:00pm at the East End Brewery in East Liberty. EEBC is a dog-friendly local brewery offering house beers for sale at their bar, or by the growler. Well behaved, vaccinated dogs are welcome to come along with you for the workshop. Keep in mind we’ll be using scissors and glue and don’t want anyone getting hurt, so use your best judgement. Lucy will be staying home so I can assist with the crafting!
I love the two sample bow ties that Monica made! One has blush pink leather and paint splatter fabric. The second one has turquoise leather and sushi print fabric! They are both finished with a gold leather loop in the middle and elastic in the back to attach it to the collar. I can’t wait to see all the different combinations everyone comes up with at the workshop on July 18th – not to mention the photos when they all get home!
These Photos Made Possible By…
If you want to get an incredibly adorable face like the one above, you’re going to have to bring some good treats! For this photoshoot I used the brand new Cuddles treats from The Honest Kitchen. They are a fish and pumpkin recipe and definitely smell fishy! Lucy loooooved them! I also loved that the packaging matched the wall we used for these photos. You can see on the package it says they are made just for training and have only 8 calories per treat, so I can treat liberally while I try to get Lucy to pose just right. The Honest Kitchen sent us these treats to try, but I can assure you the opinions are 100% honest – Lucy doesn’t mess around when it comes to treats!
