December is the only month when you get tons of mail that you can be excited about! Between gifts you order online to holiday cards, there’s a lot to look forward to when you open your mailbox. My mom has always sent out a Christmas card with a photo of me and my sisters on it. As we get older and one of my sisters has her own baby, I feel like we should do our own cards. Lucky for me, I have a cute fur baby to feature on my card! Apparently a lot of dog moms are in the same boat, because when I went to Minted to start designing my card I found over 80 pet themed holiday card designs!
I’ve been ordering holiday cards (and art and invitations) on Minted for years and I’m always impressed with the new products they come out with. I like to try out a new feature each time I order. Two years ago I got the pearlescent paper which has a slight shimmer. Last year I got to try the foil stamped photo card which was really beautiful! I’ve also ordered the skinny wrap return address labels and envelope liners for various cards and invitations. I think of it all as accessories for your cards, and who doesn’t love to pile on the accessories!
This year, since I’ve decided to do a card featuring my chocolate lab Lucy, I’m trying to pick a card with the perfect balance of holiday spirit and doggy enthusiasm. If Lucy were to send a card, what would it say? The artists and designers who make the cards must have dogs too, because I think they really “get” it. I’ve narrowed my selection down to these three. I want to take a new photo of Lucy for the card (hopefully near some Christmas trees if anyone will let us). Narrowing my card choice down to a few options helps me decided how to set up and frame the photo so that we end up with a paw-fect card!
These are just mock ups, so I’m using the same photo in all three options. My first two choices are pretty darn cute! I really like the Peace, Love, Toy/Treats messages because they tie in perfectly with a DIY I have planned to share with you in January. But don’t commit to one just yet because this third option might be exactly what I’m looking for! Scroll down to see the coordinating custom address on the envelope and you’ll see why I love this design so much!
Which holiday card should I pick?
Comment below to let me know which one is your favorite. I want to make up my mind by midnight on November 28th so I can take advantage of the Cyber Monday deal! This is Lucy’s first year getting her very own holiday card. Have you sent out cards for your dog before? Any advice you can share to make sure we do a good job?
We ended up with a card that says, “May your days be furry and bright,” featuring Bowie the corgi in his full glory. Love these cards!
