On this episode, I’m talking to Maria Ducasse who created a non-profit to help people avoid separating from their dogs due to a hardship such as an illness, losing their job, or losing their home.
She got started a few years ago in a very grassroots way by asking around at her local dog park to see if her neighbors would want to help temporarily foster dogs to help pet parents in need. She got so much support right from the start!
Through her program, she’s been able to keep pets out of animal shelters so that they can keep spots open for the dogs who really need them.
I loved hearing about the big plans that Maria has, such as creating a 24-hour dog community resource center that would give pet parents in her neighborhood an indoor place to socialize their dogs.
The biggest takeaway from this interview is what you can achieve with the support of your community.
