This interview with canine behaviorist Cheri Lucas gave me so much to think about when it comes to how I interact with my own dogs. Cheri told me about how she fell in love with animal rescue and ended up with 14 dogs in her own home at one point. Back then, she said she was the antithesis of a dog trainer!
But learning how to lead those dogs and the thousands she’s helped rescue since taught her what dogs want from us more than anything else. Dogs want us to be leaders.
Not only has Cheri developed her own unique methods around this mentality, but she also works with other dog trainers to help them build their confidence and become the leaders that they were born to be. It was such a pleasure to get to know Cheri and hear her perspective on the unique and powerful bond between women and their dogs.
