Summer might be coming to an end, but as you’ll hear on this episode, it’s always gelato season! Today’s guest started making gelato for dogs in her own kitchen, and now has her product carried in shops around the West Coast. We talk about how she made the transition from corporate life to a dog-inspired life and what keeps her motivated every day. She also shares some of the biggest struggles of starting her own pet industry business.

Running a Gelato Business for Dogs

Debbie Hendrickx owns Swell, gelato for dogs in Seattle WA. After an 18 year career in corporate fashion retail she had a eureka moment and decided to pursue a lifelong dream… this is, working in a field that allowed her to be surrounded by dogs. Debbie let go of a life of high fashion and 4 inch heels and traded it in for sneakers and a gelato cart. Just a few years later, her top of the line dog gelatos are sold all over the West Coast
