When I found out that Rachael Ray™ has a new line of dog treats inspired by delicious foods that I already love, I knew I had to create a Valentine’s Day post all about how Lucy and I plan to use the treats. If you want to guarantee a fabulous February 14th, follow my tutorial for a Valentine’s Day Dinner with Your Dog in 4 Steps.
The first new treat that caught my eye is the Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Pawsta. I just can’t say no to a dog themed pun! But, it’s not just a cute name. Rachael Ray worked with pet nutrition experts to create Nutrish super-premium food and treats for dogs inspired by recipes from her own kitchen. I love to find ways for Lucy and I to enjoy the finer things in life together, so I’m making like Rachael Ray this week and creating a Valentine’s Day dinner for 2. While I was shopping, I also picked up Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Deli Cuts as an appetizer for Lucy!
Step 1: Plan Your Meal
I shopped for Rachael Ray Nutrish treats on Chewy.com. The shipping was so fast, I would highly recommend ordering there. And I think they might have mind reading abilities, because as soon as we got low on the Nutrish I got an email to reorder! You can also find them where you usually shop for groceries.
Since I knew Lucy would be enjoying heathy, corn and wheat free treats, I was inspired to make my own dinner a little healthier than usual. I made my own pasta with half spaghetti and half zoodles, with some red bell pepper thrown in for color. The meatballs are also a healthy hack, made with spicy chicken sausage and oven baked. I love how paying more attention to Lucy’s food has resulted in me paying more attention to what I eat, too!
Step 2: Set a Special Valentine’s Day Table
I crafted up a very special Valentine’s Day plate for Lucy by following this post from Kol’s Notes. I absolutely love how it turned out! The best part is that this will last for years and I can pull it out every year for our Valentine’s Day celebration. Even though it’s just dinner with my dog, it’s important to me to pay attention to the details. I pulled out cloth napkins that match our new paw print plate to complete the tablescape.
Step 3: Enjoy Your Food and Snacks!
While Lucy tried to get a taste of my healthy pasta and “meatballs”, she did a good job of waiting for her turn to enjoy the Pawsta and DeliCuts. As you can tell by the pleading look in her eyes below, she wanted more, more, more! Keep in mind that as with all treats, these are intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only. Always watch your dog to ensure Nutrish treats are thoroughly chewed before swallowing. Break into small pieces for smaller dogs.
Step 4: Post Dinner Cuddle Session and Movie Marathon
After our meal, Lucy and I head to the couch for a cuddle session and romantic comedy marathon. A few of our favorite rom coms that feature dogs are Legally Blonde, Must Love Dogs, You’ve Got Mail and Lady and the Tramp!
There you have it, four easy steps to the perfect Valentine’s Day dinner with your dog! I’m really excited about recreating my healthy pasta and zoodles on a regular basis. Fortunately for Lucy, she can have a little Pawsta every day! Ready to order your treats? Get a $1.50 off coupon!
Share the Love
Carry on the spirit and love of Valentine’s Day all year. A portion of proceeds from each sale of Nutrish is donated to The Rachael Ray Foundation, which helps animals in need through Rachael’s Rescue. Through 2016, Rachael’s Rescue has donated more than $14 million dollars to pet charities and other organizations that do good for animals. There are so many ways you can feel good about this treat!
