<\/p>\nIf you’re anything like me, the struggle is real when it comes to phone time vs. dog time. I’m doing everything I can to pull myself away from my phone and spend more quality time with Lucy, but there are some apps that actually enhance our time together! These are the best apps for dog moms, in my opinion.\u00a0I have all of these apps on my phone and use them regularly to find fun things to do, raise fund for shelter pups or document our time together. Make sure you check out the last one, because it’s definitely our new favorite!<\/p>\n

You may have heard of Map My Run and used it to track your runs or find new routes to take. Map My Dog Walk is very similar! It’s marketed as a GPS walk and activity tracker, but personally I like to use it to discover new places to walk. There’s a setting called Route Genius that asks you to put in a distance (3 miles, for example) and will recommend a route for you. To enhance your experience, you can connect with friends and set goals within the app to keep you and your pup in shape!<\/p>\n
Seems like a no-brainer, but this is one of my most used apps! I think the forecasts are really accurate and I use it to plan when I’m going to walk Lucy. In the summer, or high pollen times, I also like to use this to check out the air quality so I know when to walk or when we need to cut it short. The “feels like” temperature has saved me from freezing my butt off many times this Winter!<\/p>\n
Rover allows you to find dog walkers and sitters in your area. I used it to find a great dog sitter who stayed at my house with Lucy for about a week earlier this year. With the app you can check out profiles, message with sitters and walkers and even pay them for their service. There’s a corresponding website too, but I found the app really helpful to message back and forth and arrange dates and times.<\/p>\n
Earn money for the animal rescue organization of your choice just by turning this app on when you go for walks! Install the app, select your favorite animal charity, then click Start Walking to track your walk. The more people that walk for a charity, the more money will be donated. Funds are generated through sponsorships and ads, so there is no cost to you.<\/p>\n
I recently discovered an awesome training app called Puppr<\/a>. It’s developed with the very popular Instagram account @thesupercollies<\/a> to help you teach your dog some of the cool tricks those dogs are known for. The app\u00a0includes step-by-step photo instructions and a built-in clicker to help teach your dog tricks from basic obedience like \u201csit\u201d and \u201cstay\u201d to advanced tricks like \u201cfetch leash\u201d and \u201cdance\u201d. I’m excited to use this with Lucy and teach her some more advanced moves!<\/p>\n My new favorite app! This app is full of user generated content of the best dog friendly places. It started in Boston, but just went nationwide so that dogs everywhere can find fun places to hang out! Lucy and I are very excited to be Slobbr ambassadors and have already added a dozen of our favorite dog friendly places in Pittsburgh to the app. Not only can you discover new parks, shops, cafes and more to take your dog to, but with each check-in through the Slobbr App, you will generate a food donation to a shelter dog in need!\u00a0Download the app on iTunes or head to their\u00a0Android friendly website to explore the map, visit a dog-friendly location and check-in to feed a shelter pup.<\/p>\n Lucy is rocking her Slobbr bandana on a recent walk around Pittsburgh.
