Today is my birthday! Growing up, it was always awesome to share a birthday with Martin Luther King Jr. because we always had the day off school. Nowadays they “observe” his birthday so the day off doesn’t really line up anymore, but I pretend that I don’t know that! So I started off the day with some birthday treats and sale shopping at one of my favorite local stores, Emphatics. They carry Alaia, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Gaultier and many more fabulous lines and twice a year have a big indoor sidewalk sale where I have found some major scores! Today was no different, and I treated myself to a pair of black suede Alaia booties for about a quarter of their original price.
Next up I made a stop at a new French patisserie for some beautiful macarons. This was my first time shopping there, and in addition to the colorful macarons, they also have tons of other gorgeous desserts! I’ve already tried two flavors so far, Salted Caramel and Rasberry, très délicieux!
I also had the most fabulous birthday cake from Prantl’s for dinner with my family on Sunday. It’s covered in my favorite design, snowflakes, with icicle style frosting around the sides. I have to say it tasted even better than it looked!
My boyfriend is taking me out for birthday dinner tonight, and then this weekend we’re going skiing with a few friends to continue the celebration. After I recover from all this fabulosity, it’s time to get ready for Lucy’s birthday on February 4th!
I’m a day late but happy belated Birthday!!! It sounds like you had a fabulous day, but tell me, how in the world do you wear shoes like that?
I have hobbit feet and sadly get stuck in basic ‘comfortable’ shoes.
The key to shoes like this is to park very close to wherever you are going! : ) And make sure you have a railing to hold on to while going down the stairs!
Happy Happy Birthday! Sounds like you had a wonderful day – shoes, macaroons and cake – what else can a girl ask for? xoxo
