Last week I celebrated three years of Wear Wag Repeat with a Blogiversary Party at my friend Leslie’s shop Juju. We lucked out with a perfect rain-free night so the girls and I could wear coordinating dog-mom/fur-baby gingham outfits. I love when that happens! This party was thrown together a little last minute, but that doesn’t mean it was anything less than fabulous. When you have a clear theme in mind it’s easy to pull together the pieces.
I knew right off the bat that I would put the girls in their new gingham CollarDoos, so that meant I would wear a coordinating gingham skirt. Figuring out the outfit is usually the biggest part of any event for me!
Since I didn’t have a lot of time to look up new recipes, I made this Doggy Cake that I made for Lola’s 11th Birthday. It’s kind of like a bland banana bread with plain greek yogurt icing. A simple cake looks elegant on a fun printed plate (Missoni for Target!), and I always like to use a piping bag for the “icing” to give my dog treats a professional look. Even though it’s a little bland by human standards, the dogs LOVE it! As you can see in this video from the party.
With outfits and dog treats figured out, next up I thought about refreshments for the people who would come. I appalled the guy at the beer store by only picking out beers that had a Chocolate Lab on the label! But you know what, they are actually good beers, not just cute labels! And you always want to make sure you have a non-alcoholic option, so I bought sparking pink lemonade from Trader Joes that comes in a nice glass bottle and named it Labby Lemonade!
It was the perfect night to hang out and celebrate how far I’ve come with this blog, with my two fur babies at my side, of course! Major thank you to Leslie for hosting the soiree!
Blogiversary Doggy Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
1 banana, mashed
1 heaping spoonful of peanut butter
1/4 cup canola or vegetable oil
1 egg
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
splash of water as needed
cream cheese for frosting
food coloring (optional)
Directions:
Combine wet ingredients in a small bowl, then mix in the dry a little bit at a time. Add water as needed to get a cake batter consistency (I used about 1/2 a cup). Pour into a non stick round cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool for about 10 minutes before removing from pan. Combine a heaping spoonful of plain greek yogurt with 1 or 2 drops of food coloring for your icing. Use a piping bag for an extra special finish.

Thanks Candace! My dogs were so happy to get some special cake!
You are so much better at celebrating bloggiversaries than I am. I hit two years in February and I haven’t so much as acknowledged it! Lol. I am really going to have to make that pup cake for Bowie. He hasn’t had banana yet, but he is ALL ABOUT pumpkin puree!
I’m all about celebrating everything and anything! My dogs are obsessed with bananas! This morning I cut one up for my breakfast and they sat next to me drooling! ha
