I can’t think of a better way to celebrate our first snow of the season than with a stylish dog coat from Up Country! I had planned on highlighting a couple of their collars and leashes that give back to deserving animal causes as great idea for holiday gifts that give back. But it just so happens that our photoshoot coincided with the first big snow of the season, so Lucy and I went straight to the park to see how this gear performed in the snow. Enjoy the photos and read all about the great causes that benefit from the Up Country Cares collection.

First Snow With Up Country
It’s so hard to find clothes that fit Lucy, so I love that Up Country carries sizes that fit big dogs. She’s wearing a Size 24 and it fits perfectly! There’s even 2 more sizes larger than that, so if you have a dog that’s over 70 lbs then here’s a coat that will fit! The beautiful Pink Tweed Coat is perfect for the city or the country. I plan to have Lucy wear it on our daily walks around the neighborhood.
There are so many details to this coat that take it to the next level. I love the pale pink satin lining, wide velcro closures, corduroy collar and, most of all, the little bum pocket with logo brass snaps. Some people might keep poo bags or some treats in that pocket, but Lucy thinks it was designed for easy access butt scratches! I can’t argue with her on that, it’s perfectly placed!
If you love your pets, then I bet you have a soft spot for all kinds of animals. Up Country feels the same way, so they designed the Leader of the Pach collar and leash. This adorable elephant print benefits the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust who’s mission is to protect elephants with anti-poaching education, protecting their natural environment, enhancing community awareness and providing veterinary assistance to animals in need. 20% of the proceeds of every Leader of the Pach collar, leash and harness sold is donated to the DSTW to help their efforts. I have a special place in my heart for elephants, which you can read about here.
Up Country is proudly made in America and very involved in their local community in Rhode Island. They created a program with the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals called RISPCA Give a Dog a Collar. Over the past 6 years they have donated over 500 sets of collars and leashes to newly adopted dogs from the RISPCA. They walk right down the street to Up Country, straight from the shelter, and get fitted for new collars that their adoptive parents choose. What a great way for a pet to start off a new chapter of their life in style!
Another exclusive collar design that gives back is the The No Bones About It collar, pictured below. 10% of sales go to the Petfinder Foundation which helps adoptable pets find good homes. On their website you can read tons of success stories from their shelters and rescue groups that the Foundation helps. I love when companies create beautiful, well made products that also create social change. What an inspiration!
