I’m not the only one who’s excited about Summer weather and more time outside. Lucy and Lola love being outside, whether it’s just chilling in our backyard or a hike in the woods. With the mild Winters we’ve been having the past couple of years, our vet tells me that fleas and ticks are more of a concern than ever. I’ve been looking for a natural solution for flea and tick control to keep my favorite girls protected. Until now, I didn’t even realize just how many products are on the market to help with fleas and ticks. It was astonishing. Even though I was spoilt for choice on products, I always knew that I wanted a natural remedy for fleas and ticks, as I’d heard from a couple of my friends that this was the best route for me to go down, especially when it concerned my girls. Luckily, I’ve discovered Only Natural Pet® who is committed to finding the most effective and sustainable natural pet products for every facet of your pet’s life.

I take Lucy out for a quick hike in the park by our house several times per week. When we have more time (on weekends or quiet workdays), I’ll often take her for a longer hike 20 minutes from my house in a more wooded area. We see deer and all sorts of creatures in both parks, so I’m always concerned about protecting her from fleas, ticks and any other bugs that could irritate her.
Although Lola doesn’t get out hiking as much (at 13 years old she’s earned the right to snooze as long as she wants!), I still notice little bugs flying around her face just in the backyard. Last Summer I discovered a plant called Mexican Citronella, and would tuck a few leaves under her collar to keep bugs away. Seeing how effective that was, I was excited to see that Only Natural Pet’s Shampoo and Conditioner and EasyDefense Herbal Spray have the same citronella scent. I’ve already given Lucy a bath with the shampoo and conditioner, it smells great and made her coat very soft and shiny!
Have you ever found a tick on your dog? Lola and Lucy have each had a few and they are so gross! Now, I’m very vigilant about making sure they’re protected because I don’t want to see another one of those little guys ever again! I love that Only Natural Pet sells their flea and tick solutions as kits, so you don’t have to guess what products go together. You can choose kits designed to Protect, Prevent and Repel or just go with the Ultimate and get everything seen in my photos here.
Whatever you choose, I recommend picking up the Barrier Treats. Their all natural ingredients offer powerful support for your pet’s skin and coat, imparting an off-putting taste that signals to fleas and ticks that your dog is not a welcoming host. How cool its that? Plus, they are nice and soft so I’ve been using them as pill pockets for Lola’s old girl pain meds.
What’s your favorite method to keep your pet protected from fleas and ticks?
