In today’s episode, we acknowledge the growing awareness and acceptance of mental health within the pet industry. However, it’s essential to recognize that current conversations may not provide sufficient resources for individuals struggling with pet-related mental health. Jess Adam, through her business Handlers & Humans, is creating a bridge to fill this gap.
Jess and I discuss why telling someone to “calm down” is not an adequate solution when they’re stressed about their reactive dog (or any other situation). Jess advocates for a people-focused dog training approach. Through her resources, she enables dog trainers to guide clients through the emotions associated with raising and training a dog while also addressing their own feelings of frustration and burnout.
Additionally, towards the end of our conversation, Jess provides tips on how to cope with significant emotions related to one’s pet. Her online course is available to pet parents, and she has an upcoming cohort designed specifically to assist dog trainers.
I also want to share resources we have available here at Wear Wag Repeat to help with that overwhelm feeling. We’re at the halfway point of 2023 and I want to know how you’re coming with reaching the goals you set in January. If you need to check in with those goals and make a plan to course correct, we got it covered in Wear Wag Repeat Society.
The July theme is a Mid-Year Check In to give you the tools, accountability and support you need to reach your pet business goals this year. Join us today!
