On this episode, I’m talking to Brooke Lima, the creator of [found by] fetch about starting an online shop for people and pups. We discuss the pros and cons of carrying inventory versus drop shipping, how to assemble a team to help with photos, graphics, brainstorming and more. And then we also talk about finding inspiration – both from the amazing women makers in the pet industry and the animal rescue organizations that give all of this work meaning.
How to Create a Drop Shipping Pet Boutique
Brooke Lima’s life long love of dogs and design– and a gnarly online shopping habit — lead to the creation of her company, [found by] fetch: a thoughtfully-curated, multivendor e-commerce platform for all things human, hound, and home.
Determined to work for herself and support small, woman-owned businesses internationally, she decided to hit “pause” with a year left of her Master’s Degree to work on the brand full-time.
In early September, Brooke joined Spaw, a New York-based dog-grooming tech startup, full-time as their Community Manager, which has propelled her further into the NYC dog community. She says that now building two brands from the ground up has been incredibly rewarding and is teaching her so much. Born-and-raised in New York, Brooke finds happiness in live music, dirty chai lattes, a good bagel, and her hilarious dogs, Shira & Benjamin. She lives in the vibrant, dog-friendly East Village of Manhattan with Benjamin and Shira, as well as two fabulous human-friends.
