Are you getting in the holiday spirit yet? I love seeing decorations going up around town, I just picked up my holiday wreath from the local garden club and can’t wait to celebrate my neighborhood’s adorable little Light up Night tomorrow. One holiday tradition that I’ve never participated in before (but it’s becoming more popular every year) is the ugly Christmas sweater!

As a fashionista, I had a lot of objections to this trend, but when my Instagram dog buddies suggested we dress the dogs up, I jumped right in! I mean, as dog moms, if we can’t make our dogs do silly things, then how would we entertain ourselves? So get ready… TGIF: It’s an Ugly Sweater Pawty!

Ugly Christmas sweaters for dogs are available all over the place! I got this one at Target (it ran a little big), and I also saw them at the big box pet retailers. You could also easily DIY by pinning tinsel and bells to a plain sweater. Either way, make sure that all the embellishments are secured to the sweater so your dog doesn’t accidentally swallow anything. Definitely keep an eye on them and limit how long they wear the sweater…. one, because it’s ugly and they will be embarrassed, and two, because there was a warning tag on this sweater that said that!

I might be projecting some of my embarrassment on Lucy. As you can see from the photo below she was totally cool with the ugly sweater and I was the one who didn’t know what was happening!

These photos required a LOT of treat bribes, which is what Lucy is looking at so intently in this photo.
