Today I want to ask you to welcome a new member to our pack! It’s not the usual four-legged friend you might be imagining (I didn’t get a new dog or cat!), but it’s something that could be a reliable companion in your pet business. I’m talking about ChatGPT!
In this episode, I share my own experience tapping into the power of ChatGPT, an AI tool that is changing how I create content and plan for all kinds of things in my pet business. Whether you’re working on engaging newsletters, social media posts, or refreshing product descriptions for your online shop, ChatGPT is like having an extra team member. That is… if you train it right!
We’ve been talking about how to use ChatGPT in my membership Wear Wag Repeat Society. Get in on the conversation and take advantage of this month’s guest expert, copywriter Angelica Ross, when you become a member: https://wearwagrepeat.com/society
The Detailed ChatGPT Prompts I Use to Generate Content for my Pet Business
To “train” ChatGPT to give you the results you want and that will save you time in your pet business, you need to start with the right prompt. I recommend that you start every chat with a personality profile that tells the AI who you are, what you’re working on and who it’s for. From there, be as detailed as possible and tell it exactly what you want! From there, don’t be afraid to ask for revisions and built on what it gives you.
After watching this YouTube video from Annie Dubé and this one from Katie Steckly, I combined both of their strategies with the detailed personality profile and came up with the prompt below.
I’m sharing my exact wording with you so you can see how detailed I get with my ChatGPT prompts. I got amazing results from this one! Check it out and see how you could change it and customize it to help you in your pet business.
Here’s the exact prompt that gave me impressive results:
You are a dog lifestyle expert with 10 years of experience who runs a website helping people discover things to do, make and buy for their dogs. You commonly share tips about canine enrichment and senior dog adventures. Your typical website reader is a woman in the united states age 26-55 who has at least 1 dog. She is very busy but wants to find more time to give her dog a better life. She cares very deeply that her dog is happy and healthy. You write with a friendly, upbeat and positive tone and use first-person such as “I” and “we.” when referring to yourself and your dogs.
You have a youtube channel called Wear Wag Repeat where the most popular videos are about the dog sport Barn Hunt, a DIY lick painting for dogs, Stand up paddleboarding with dogs and canine enrichment tips. You also get some traffic from people searching about how to pet blog (helping petpreneurs grow their business online is a big part of your business).
Based on that, write me in table format a YouTube content strategy for my channel that will help me gain more views over the next 6 months. For the first 3 months the weekly videos should follow the format of alternating “Helpful” videos (a helpful video is tutorials, how to, etc) and “Hub” videos (hub videos show more personality of your brand and lifestyle with dogs). For the 2nd 6 months the weekly videos should follow the format of 1 “helpful” video, 2 “hub” videos and 1 “Hero” video (a hero video is one that’s designed to go viral on the homepage of Youtube).
