Product Review: Lululemon Dog Runner Pant

UPDATE: This post was originally written in 2014 (yes, I’ve been blogging for 11+ years!) That means the Dog Runner Pant from Lululemon is no longer available.

But if you’re looking for dog walking pants that are waterproof, windproof and breathable… this Lined Jogger from Athleta is a good dupe! I wear them nearly every day in January and February.

You can also check out the Halle Jogger II from Prana. They have good gear! And apparently, Walmart even has waterproof leggings! I haven’t tried those myself yet, but they look interesting (especially for the price).

Why I Love the Dog Runner Pant from Lululemon

I picked up the Lululemon Dog Runner pant while I was shopping a few post-Christmas sales last weekend. I have literally put them on almost every day since then! They are the perfect pant for hiking or playing around at the dog park on cold and damp days. That’s most days in Pittsburgh in the winter!

These dog walking pants don’t replace a snow pant, but they are water-repellant and I was pleasantly surprised to see the rain bead up on them.

On very cold winter days, I still go for fleece or flannel lined jeans. It doesn’t get any warmer than that! Check out my favorites after ordering from 4 different stores.

Review: Lululemon Dog Runner Pant

>> UPDATE: Since this Lululemon pant is no longer made, I highly recommend the Lined Jogger from Athleta as a great dupe. I live in them winter after winter!

Here’s what I like best about the Lululemon version that you can look for when you’re shopping for a warm and dry dog walking pant is:

  • Lined with a medium-weight legging that is soft and so stretchy
  • The outer pant is water resistant. It is a light and swishy material, but somehow still warm.
  • There are two zippered pockets at the hip which accommodate a few treats or poop bags perfectly.

If you’re on the short side like me (I’m 5’3″), these pants have a drawstring hem that allows you to cinch them up a little and have a bubble hem effect. Lululemon also offers free hemming, but I think if you did that they would remove the drawstring part.

Unfortunately, these pants have been out of stock and off the Lululemon website for a long time. I’m so sad that I couldn’t find them on the Lululemon website to share with you. There are a couple pairs on eBay, but just so you know, the original price was $118, and I bought them for $69. So don’t overpay!

>> Just in case you made it this far and didn’t see my earlier mentions, this is a blog post I originally published in 2014! I leave it up because people keep trying to find this pant. It’s no longer available, but a few good alternatives are: Lined Jogger from Athleta, Halle Jogger II from Prana or these waterproof leggings.

Jacket, Columbia Omni Heat (similar here with over 9,000 reviews!). Boots, Sorel (love these similar ones).
